193: What is Christmas?

The whole world is talking about something called  Christmas.

This is a phenomenon that I didn’t hear about in the kennels where I grew up but, at the moment, I can’t avoid hearing about it …. from my beans and from the telly box.

It seems to be s period of time in which:

  • It is compulsory to eat strange foodstuffs

  • Everyone consumes a lot of alcohol

  • Everyone spends a lot of money they can’t really afford on presents  for people they don’t even like

  • The shops encourage people to buy, buy ,buy ….. presumably because during the Christmas period they must be closed for  a long time

  • People ‘oooh’ and ‘aaah’ at the mention of ‘baby Jesus’.

  • People go the the theatre to see something called ‘Pantomime’ -which from the very small excerpts I have seen involves lots of bad singing, bad dancing and bad (or Dad) jokes.

I’ve tried to put all of these factors together and construct  something that makes sense but it’s beyond my doggy capabilities.

All I can do is hope is that I am included in the additional mandatory eating.(but not most of the other Christmas factors).
