90: I’m Turning Human

A few days ago I heard my human beans laughing.  They said they had heard me snoring.

That can’t be right. We dogs have to be ready to leap into action at a moment’s notice to ward off marauding pirates, polar bears or anything else subjecting us to attack.

(Come to think of it, though, I haven’t seen many pirates or polar bears in North Leeds recently.)

I’m a fully-fit, highly-trained, fighting machine …. until I wake up. Then, I must admit, I do lose my edge and sink into a torpor of apathy.

Perhaps my fighting days are over. (In fact, they never really began.) Perhaps, after all, I really am starting to snore. Just don’t tell my doggy friends. I would never live it down.
