130: If Music Be …

TOWTSH has a variety of what I believe are referred to as musical instruments.  I hesitated to use that term since I have never heard anything which I would regard as ‘musical’ emanating from him when he has one of these things in his possession.

Understandably, TOWTLH insists he uses these things in the attic which is relatively sound proof, especially when she also insists that he practises through headphones.

Occasionally I go up and watch him and it is quite amusing to see him swaying back and forth, plucking or strumming or whatever, depending on which instrument he is attempting to play.

The real problem is that he will accompany himself vocally - uttering the words to what I believe would be called songs if anyone else was doing the singing.

It’s hard to know if he is just incompetent or in pain.

He has a dark secret.  Quite a few years ago, the family joined together and paid for some singing lessons.  (They thought it was cheaper than therapy for themselves.)

After a few lessons, the singing teacher asked him to leave and said she would take no payment for the lessons so far on  one condition  - that he told no-one who had been his teacher.  (She had a reputation to uphold.)

I am simply the latest of his victims.  I’m trying to pluck up the courage to sing with him.  I can’t use the word ‘harmonise’ as he could only do that with a dying cat.

Poor old bugger!
