244: Yet Again!
That title should really be ‘Vet Again!’ Because I went to the vet (yet again) on Wednesday. This time it was to have my (left) ear checked. I can’t remember if I told you I had an ear infection but I did (have an infection). TOWTLH (Jacky) has been putting drops in for the last week. This is an unpleasant experience especially if the drops are cold (which they often ere at this time of year).
The good news is than Big Pharma and modern medicine have proved their worth (yet again) and the infection has gone, though, for some reason, the vet says I should finish the course of medicine (i.e. the drops)
My next scheduled visit to the vet is not util the end of January when my annual injections are due. Let hope nothing untoward turns up before then.
[Digression …
What on earth does ‘untoward’ really mean’. If ‘toward’ means moving closer to something, then presumably ‘untoward’ means moving further away from something. Why then do we use ‘something untoward’ in the sense of a difficulty or barrier.
As usual with these issues of meaning, there is no answer. Where is Susie Dent when you need her?
End of Digression]
I have been steadily working my way through a Doggy Advent Calendar this month but the daily treats are rather small. Still it was kind of Karen, Jon and Woody to bring it for me. It’s become a nice daily ritual but I realise it will end when whatever is being foretold will finally have advented.
[Digression …
My beans are keen watchers of the BBC on the tellybox. They rarely watch commercial Chanels because in John’s regular, raised voice comment, there are ‘too many bloody advents’ though he does pronounce ‘advents’ sloppily.
End of Digression]
These digressions mean I have run out of the time I am allotted on the family computer.
[Digression (yet again)…
I know John has bought himself a new computer for Christmas but I don’t know whether Jacky knows. How many computers does one family need?
Don’t answer that. It might incriminate poor John.
End of Digression]
Hopefully I shall be back next week (yet again).without any vet visits, with more advent treats.
In the meantime, it is nice on my nighttime walks to see all the pretty lights, though the huge Santa Bicker is rather intimidating. I have also missed the little Santa hanging out of Richard’s window
