61: Happy Birthday

We seem to be having a run of birthdays in our street. It has become a ritual (or perhaps tradition - if you can have a tradition established within a period of only several  months) for the house of whoever is having the bithday to be decorated with banners and bunting and for vast numbers of celebratory messages to be sent via the WhatsApp group).

I think this just shows how keen people have been in lockdown times to find a cause for celebration.

Another ‘tradition’ has been for people to emerge at the daily 11am coffee session with birthday cake or birthday biscuits.  With luck they drop enough crumbs to meet the needs of any dog lucky enough to participate - i.e. me!

But there is another aspect to this birthday polemic - it is my birthday soon (21st April).

Will I get presents?

WillI I get cake?

Almost certainly not. My beans will say that such things are not good for me, that they are thinking of my weight and my health.  But this is ‘doggist’ - discriminatory and perhaps even illegal.

Humans are allowed their one day when they can forget their diet, their obesity ond their reduced lifespan.

Why not dogs?

Those of you in the street who are reading this should act as if I were human. (I think I’m as good as …)

Bring on the bunting.

Bring on the cake

Let’s make this a birthday to remember.
