163: Author or ….?
If you read this blog on a regular basis, you will be aware that I often have trouble with the English language.
It is a very strange language. It has more words than most other languages, yet it too often uses the same words for different meanings (though I admit that sometimes one of the multiple meanings is slang or vernacular).
Example
Trough - a long, narrow container for animals to drink from.
Trough - to eat like an animal
And ….
Sound, desert, minute, lie, refuse …
I bring this up because TOWTLH has been ‘booking’ something. (I’ve heard him discussing it with other members of the family.)
Does this mean he is writing a book, placing a bet, making a reservation, charging a criminal with an offence … or ….?
I need to know so I can plan or react accordingly.
If the first, he may be too busy to take me for walks; if the second, he may lose all his money and I might starve; if the third, he might be going out for a meal - or worse still, on holiday - and I’ll be on my own; I’m not sure how he might be doing the fourth one.
Any help - by talking to him and revealing the secret to me - will be greatly appreciated.
