137 : Playing Tag

Tag is evidently some sort of game plated by humans. I think, most commonly, it is played by their pups but TOWTSH seems to have been playing it recently - but definitely not enjoying it,

Actually he has been playing some variant of the standard game called, I believe, telephone tag.

He has just changed his car for one of those new-fangled electric ones and has had to carry out strange tasks like updating his insurance, arranging transfer of something called a personalised number plate (which I assume is like my doggy ID tag round my neck) and simply (!) arranging handover - after an eight-month wait.

This was all done on the telephone - an electronic, shouting instrument beloved by human beans. He got lots of repeat messages like, ‘If you want to update your insurance, Press 5”. But it never says 5 what!

After sorting out his car - which he did in only 27 phone calls (something of a record, I think), he had to ring the doctor. That was another 27 phone calls, most of which simply repeated the phrase “You are in a queue. Please hold” (hold what?), occasionally adding his position in the queue which barely  seemed to move. Occasionally he would become apoplectic, ring off and have to start again.

“My life seems to be a continuous round of telephone tag” was the last comment he made before smashing a mug on the kitchen floor while I and TOWTLH looked on, surprised but understanding - fast becoming my default attitude to the poor, old bugger.
