40: Carols Galore
A couple of days ago, our street came out to sing carols together. As usual, one neighbour (who I’ll call John) had recorded backing tracks and provided the lyrics. The rest of them just provided their voices (notice I didn’t say ‘singing voices’) .... the result was ‘interesting’ (rather than musical) but they all had fun. I quite enjoyed watching them, though a mute button wouldn’t have gone amis.
It got me thinking about music. TOWTSH has a device that plays music. He asks it to play something and it responds. It’s nicknamed ‘Siri’ though I think the proper name for it is a HomePod. I hear he is getting a mini version of this device as a Christmas present. Anyway, one of the things you can do (as with most modern music devices) is to create a ’playlist’ of music which can be played sequentially or in random order.
This set me thinking about what music I would add to my personal playlist. It has to be doggy-related, of course) so, up to now, my suggestions are:
I Love My Dog
Puppy Love
The Boxer
Santa Claws is coming to Town
Dog on the Tyne
Bark the Herald Angels Sing
Hound Dog
Mistletoe and Whine
Long-Eared Lover from Liverpool
The Collie Song
Paw Me
When the Going Gets Woof
And, of course, anything by Howlin’ Wolf, The Pointer Sisters or Jarvis Cocker.
This, I think, is my last blog post before Xmas. So I’ll sign off by wishing you all a wonderful, law-abiding, socially-distanced, hand-sanitised time over the festive period .....
...and, don’t worry .... I’ll be back!
